{"id":743,"date":"2007-04-27T17:59:35","date_gmt":"2007-04-27T17:59:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/florida.qlarant.com\/?p=743"},"modified":"2023-01-25T18:00:00","modified_gmt":"2023-01-25T18:00:00","slug":"best-practices-provider-56","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/florida.qlarant.com\/?p=743","title":{"rendered":"Best Practices &#8211; Provider"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Submission date:<\/strong>\u00a04-27-07<br \/>\n<strong>Submitted by:<\/strong> Trudy Acevedo, QIC<br \/>\n<strong>Provider name:<\/strong> Kitty Adams of Creative Care, Inc.<br \/>\n<strong>APD Area:<\/strong> 23<\/p>\n<div class=\"CollapsiblePanelContent\">\n<p><strong>Practice<\/strong><br \/>\nKitty Adams has assisted two individuals with making a photo album recipe book using labels from the ingredients necessary to make the recipe.\u00a0 The photo album has various recipes of the individual&#8217;s choosing (such as chop suey).\u00a0Since both individuals have difficulty with reading, the provider came up with a creative way to help them\u00a0know what ingredients are needed for each recipe.\u00a0 The recipes in this book are\u00a0ones that do not require\u00a0specific measuring, and are\u00a0casserole recipes or one dish recipes.\u00a0The provider assists the individual with taking the labels (stewed tomatoes label, macaroni label, ground beef label, etc.) off of all the ingredients needed to make the recipe.\u00a0\u00a0In the example of the chop suey recipe\u00a0which requires an onion,\u00a0she pressed the skin of the onion\u00a0just like you would press a flower in a photo album.\u00a0\u00a0The various labels and onion skin\u00a0were\u00a0placed on the photo album page\u00a0under the plastic film that would normally cover your pictures in the album.\u00a0\u00a0 On the top of the plastic\u00a0film, each label had a piece of Velcro.\u00a0 A second label or pressed onion was then laminated with a Velcro piece on the back.\u00a0 The individual was able to match the labels and the onion to its corresponding place in the album.\u00a0 This has helped the individuals to take the top labels and go to the store to independently purchase all of the ingredients they need for this particular recipe and when the come home they are able to match the pictures back up with the ones in the album (the ones placed under the film)\u00a0so that the ingredients for each recipe do not get mixed up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who Benefits? <\/strong>The individuals receiving services benefit<strong> .<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>How?<\/strong> Because, the practice promotes practical learning and independence.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Submission date:\u00a04-27-07 Submitted by: Trudy Acevedo, QIC Provider name: Kitty Adams of Creative Care, Inc.
